lastly Yes they should not mess each other up (or so to speak) for the most part, although some stuff wont work "exactly" the way it did using the Default SuperVersus setup cuz we have our 8 player coop server settings differently, so ill explain a little

for the most part, like we did not use Extra Special Count Spawning, setting that Cvar spawns 1 extra specials at normal special spawn times per survivor past the 4th, which L4D2 will default spawn 2 or 3 specials every 45 seconds generally, but depending on the time in the campaign it could by anywhere from 20 sec to almost 2 min thanks to the Director scripts Valve used, so we ended up opting for the same # amount of special infected being spawned at a time but they have 2x health and also a slightly reduced spawn timing, not by very much just ever so slightly to add more encounters and thus balance out the dmg / difficulty through out the Chapter / Maps to a Campaign

=
just the primary difference is we set it so theres always the 8 survivors showing up in the beginning, and theres no scaling for when human players join into the bot survivors, , its like a standardized 8 player coop server, which we decided to go that way instead of setting up all Coop servers, the same that run normaly 4 player but ppl could then get 4 extra friends to join and play 8 players, cuz we figured it might cause some confusion for players joining to figure out whats going on and how the server works

compared to them seeing for example after joining, 4 players in the map but noticing on the View Game Info or Server Info options in the server browser the specific server say 4/8 players, maybe trying to invite another 5th friend into their L4D2 game cuz the servers info says 8 total but they could only get 4, and then if they happened to use the Steam Invite for friends that doesnt work either lol they might just give up or think its broken

although the DG settings is a little rough playing single player or with 1 other friend and having 6 or 7 bots with you, or i guess i dont mind it since i attempted to balance the gameplay settings so it still feels like the same L4D2 gameplay dynamic, just with more survivors and more guns and 2x zeds and Specials with 2x health (beware the Charger lol), although the zeds have a little extra health going from 50 to 80, so with pistols you will notice an extra 2 or 3 shots to take them out and the submachine guns, you dont notice much with the rifles like AK and m16 cuz the dmg is so high maybe 1 extra shot depending where you hit them

So to attempt to simplify lol sry i forget not everything needs an explanation to how it works, just an answer to what it can or can not do lol

yes you could use the Default pack for most of the time, then say move the DG pack over when having more than 4 players, then copy back again and so on,

But there is 1 small issue, everytime you copy and paste either of the 2 packs to your folder / its location, it will also overwrite your Admins.cfg file with the defaullt 1, so the Sourcemod admins cfg file wont have your Steam ID you added to give you access to the /admin chat command when playing, which gives you the Admin side panel menu for controlling the server

=
if you did not add yourself as an Admin in your game and dont ever plan to, then no worries theres no prob to swamp universally, although its highly suggested and i wanna say i set the Vote to Kick option to "off" so ppl cant call a Vote to Kick on you in your games if you use the Local Host option, and if Local Host works for you of course lol, and i figured most ppl would wanna add themselves for admin to use the /kick playername command

you can move either of the 2 packs into your game, then the other, then back again without issues if you just keep re-adding your name and Steam ID to the admin.cfg file (which again is not "necessarily needed", although extremely recommended)

=

if you want to be able to move both packs into your game back and forth, and still have the /admin command work -
you could edit the packs admin.cfg files so when you copy them over to your C:\ drive folder it will have your info in it already, if your comfortable enough with it you can do the following :

- get both the Default and DG packs, then unzip either 1 and open the folder, then go into the Steam folder and keep going all the way through the folders
- then after entering the left4dead2 folder, go into the addons folder, then into the Sourcemod folder, then into the configs folder
- then edit the admin.cfg file and add your Steam ID info on the line, then do the other Pack that way, so then your info is already in those packs admin.cfg file

if you do that then you can use the packs universally without losing admin controls

So if you just wanted to make it so all 8 survivors show up in game, and keep the Default SuperVersus Packs game settings, like zeds and Special Infected etc.

you could go into your own L4D2 game files after "installing" the Default pack with the copy and paste, then you just have to edit 1 line in a file to make it so that Default SuperVersus pack will run 8 players and spawn all 8 survivors for those slots, go to the same place and edit it again to set it back to 4 :

so here you just need to open file explorer program, then on the left side panel click the C:/ Local Disk drive, go into Program Files (x86) folder, just like when you are installing the pack, but then keep going into the Steam folder, SteamApps, common, Left 4 Dead 2, left4dead2, cfg, and finally the sourcemod folder, and in there open / edit the superversus.cfg file, and set the line l4d_static_minimum_survivor 8 instead of 4

and your good to go, then go back in and edit that line to make it 4 again if you dont plan on more than 4, which is probably better than swapping packs for most ppl lol so this is probably what you want, but you could swap between Packs with the admin.cfg file changes mentioned in previous post

Hey man, Im trying to get 8 players running on my dedicated server that I have hosted through gameservers.com. The only mods I have installed is ABM. I run some custom coop and survival maps with my friends, but I cant get 4 more guys in there because it says server is full even though the current setup would be 4 human and 4 bots in the map.

As far as I know (and I could be wrong), the additional 4 players will need to connect via the console rather than the lobby.

oh yeah that would probably be my 1st guess as well, good call Hades

if your trying to just invite all the friends with the Invite option on the Steam Friends list or in the Steam Overlay, then it wont ever let more than the default # of players into that said match, so your other friends will need to open the dev console with the `~ key (known as the Tilda key) and type out openserverbrowser and enter it, then they will get a server window like most Source games, or the Steam Desktop Browser

STEAM GROUP FOR YOUR L4D2 SERVER:

if you make a Steam Group you can connect it to your L4D2 server, which makes life easier for other players to use the servers or join a match that has more than the default player count for said match

- after creating the Group open the Edit Group Settings option in your Steam Client program window, and you will see a Group ID # at the top

- then enter that # in the line sv steamgroup 000000 in your server.cfg file

then when other Steam players join your Steam Group it will make your game servers show up in that players Steam Group Servers list in L4D2

ok so it looks like the SuperVersus plugin that handles 8 players wont be fixed anytime soon, and since it wont even run on Linux ill have to check the 1 other plugin that handles player count, now that winter is pretty much set in i should have some more free time so ill get to getting the stuff and testing it, sry to anyone that was waiting for this collection of plugins to be updated

Hello! I am quite new to trying to get these 8 player lobbies to work. I understand that you're in the process of updating the pack, but I wanted to run a quick question by you -- I am having trouble starting up the lobby. I change everything so that it's set to local host, and I've installed the 8 player lobby workshop mod as well as the pack you uploaded on the first page. When I try to host a lobby though, the "Start Game" button is greyed out and I am not able to click on it. I will upload a screenshot so that you can see. Do you have an idea why this is happening? Did I not set something correctly?

o yupp no worries you probably did everything right still, just some of those 8 player coop lobby mods make it so you cant launch the lobby without more than 2 players, there is 1 where it fixes this problem by moving the Start Game button to the lowest spot thats under the lobby chat window, so instead of Start Voice Chat at the bottom it says Start Game and you can still start the lobby to make a match

so your probably good still but the lobby mod is blocking your start, just dont use a lobby mod or try another one and you should be good

yes it seems that SuperVersus no longer works on Linux for our servers, and the Windows version of SuperVersus does still run / work, but its still a little buggy with the witch and charger now, so ill have to try putting together a whole new pack that works off the ABM / L4D2 Multi Slots plugin for 8 players

and hopefully the extra plugins that are meant to fix all the bugs that appear cuz of extra players will work together with it, but that will take me a little time and testing to make sure its ready, like i did with the SuperVersus plugins and all the other stuff i have in the old pack

All good man. I have the plugins installed but am laying off of the 8 player lobby mod for now. Until then I'm enjoying having 3 other humans and 4 more bots to spam laughs with xD. Hope the updating process is going smoothly :) thanks for all your hard work

hello, thanks for the mods

would like to ask some question about the mods

- this mods still worked for more than 8 players?

- CGF maximum and limit players set to 10 but the 9th player cannot enter
try using one of the other Console Commands that allows you to connect to a game / match, the most basic and direct one is just connect 00.000.00.000:27015 or you can try having them use the openserverbrowser command to show the Steam Server Browser and join from there
9th players must join with this solution or any other ways?

Thanks, sorry for my bad english

gotcha, and Yes i believe this setup still works (well for the most part in terms of player count), so it should still work to get 24 or less players into a Coop or Versus match when you are playing single player, or when using the Local Host option online, if you can get your Local Host option to work at all that is lol

*although there is a bug in the Witch / Charger plugin that fixes how they work on Windows, or has been showing up in my L4D2 game, so you may notice some weird bugs with Witch and/or Charger attacks, otherwise all the rest seems to work fine still*

(and those 2 SI can still attack and work fine, just somtimes the Witch mixes up players to attack in relation to who set her off, and the charger gets stuck if hitting into a 5th player, cuz the chargers collision is never meant to calculate more than 3 survivors plus the 1 survivor in its arm cuz of the games usual 4 player cap)

2 - hmm im not sure that is weird ill have to check it myself with 9+ ppl to see if i can replicate it, otherwise it should work if the player is trying to connect directly themselves to your match, if you send them a invite in steam with the friends list then yes, that usually wont work above 4 or 8 players, and the 9+ get the game is full pop up

links broken connot download files
gotcha thanks for the heads up, ill check it out once i have a second extra later today, im guessing the web server just needs a html update

EDIT:
after a quick look the download and such is still there and good, i did notice the same problem as you tho, or im guessing it is when using Google Chrome web browser, for some reason some Hyper Links are bugged sometimes in the browser where when you click on it the page goes to open then closes and doesnt load anything, if you right click the Click Here links for the mod packs on the 1st page and Copy Link Address, you can paste it into a new tab in your browser and search, which should then contact our webserver and pass the info for the download

so the link and download is all good still, just the link system in some browsers gets funky and you have to copy the links https address and paste it into a new tab
